Inside Yoga with Catherine Annis

In this episode of Life – An Inside Job podcast, I have a wonderful conversation with Scaravelli inspired Yoga teacher and trainer Catherine Annis. I’ve been lucky enough to benefit from her classes over lockdown and have found them super-interesting because the focus is on our inside experience, not what the pose looks like. After a class when she was encouraging us to kind-of NOT follow her instructions, I really wanted to talk to her more.

I am so grateful Catherine was generous enough to lend her time. In our chat we ponder on:

  • How to move when your body doesn’t want to jump up and down any more
  • How therapists and teachers’ voices can penetrate and wound
  • Catherine’s dance training and how she came to yoga
  • How we internalise critical voices as real truths
  • How sexual trauma can be re-triggered from hip-opening
  • How to welcome more diversity and POC into yoga
  • Competition in the yoga studio
  • A great tip to empty your mind
  • And of course Catherine’s tippity top tip for a great inner world

You can find out more about Catherine’s yoga teacher training here and her regular classes here

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the topics we discuss, you can message me through Instagram
