No 6: true siSTAR

This is the sixth in the Threads of Friendship series, you can read the words from the piece below and at the bottom of the page.

Dearest Tina,

a true siSTAR warrior. We’ve shared our lives for 30 years now. My heart is filled with love and appreciation for having walked this path with you. Your way of being in the world has taught and inspired me. Knowing you has been a true blessing. The gratitude that you feel for all things that come your way and how you see everything as a lesson to be learnt, moves me. Your kind and gentle nature, your generosity of spirit… sharing wild swims and walks make up some of my fondest memories. I’m honoured to share your absolute delight in noticing things like a dew drop on a leaf, to the shape of a particular tree. You see the EXTRAordinary in the ordinary… and I love youfor it.

‘See the world as your Self.

Have faith in the way things are.

Love the world as your Self.

Then you can care for all things’

The Tao

Some words from Rachel about the experience

When Gilly first invited me to take part in The Threads Of Friendship, instead of feeling honoured, I hesitated. My concern was whether I would be able to continue the thread in “the right way”. After working through and trying to understand my insecurities,I thanked Gilly and excepted her invitation. The combination of the actual skirt Gilly has chosen for me, her words and the way Kate had translated those words onto the skirt, felt like Magick. It was so special.
I knew straight away that it was my dear friend Tina that I wanted to commission a piece for and she was delighted by the invitation.Tina asked me not to buy a recycled piece of clothing as she wanted to use one of the many items of clothing that she already had. We chose a lovely Linen dress that her mother had given her.
I knew what I felt about Tina but it took me a long while to put the feelings into words and write it down. I appreciated Kate’s attitude, she said that was the nature of the Thread and it took as long as it took and that there was no hurry, I loved that…
When Kate got in touch and told me that the garment was ready and on her way, I  felt very excited. I couldn’t wait to see it but more importantly to see Tina’s reaction while receiving it.Tina didn’t know what was in the package, when she realised that it was the dress, she was lost for words. She seemed so touched as she was taking in the beauty of Kate’s work of love.
Being part of The Threads Of Friendship felt like a blessing that helped my heart to grow…
